I know driving around Rome is not ideal. But we will have a car and I was wondering if there were any key parking areas/parts of town to try for that are central to the sights and shops around it. We have no problem with moving the car mid-day or in the evening to adjust our location. I would just like some suggestions. Thanks!

parking is very difficult in rome so try to get parking included through your hotel. what we did was to park our vehicle on the OUTSKIRTS of rome and took public transportation to and from that point. which worked great until the bus drivers went on strike, lol.. never park where you are not supposed to as they look for rental cars and they will tow you, and you will pay triple what a roman citizen would pay.

the easiest way to park your car its your hotel.

It will usually offer what they call parcheggio convenzionato, which means they have guaranteed spaces at a nearby private parking garage. They may or may not also have special rates. Check with the hotel to make sure what the charges are and what hours you will have access to your car (and what days of the week).
